1.9 The After Party

“Well aren’t you going to come in?” Mrs. Littler said to Amiee as she passed by The Brightmore.

“I will be back, going home to change into something a little more comfortable.” Amiee replied.

“Don’t take too long…this party is for you, you know.” Mrs. Littler said flashing Amiee a smile.

When Amiee arrived at her apartment, Everett was waiting for her. He was leaning against her door nonchalantly. There was an air of confidence about him, and the lighting had never made this man look sexier to Amiee.

“What are you doing here?” Amiee said as she pushed him out of the way, fumbling for her keys.

“Well I figured you wanted to congratulate me or something…you didn’t say two words to me at the auction.” Everett shifting himself upright off her door.

“Sorry and congratulations, I would have said something but it was nearly impossible to fight off the crowds, it was your moment, I just didn’t want to steal the spotlight.” Amiee replied.

"Aren’t you supposed to be at the after party?” Everett said to her. A grin slightly forming at the very corner of his lips.

“Yes…I came home to change, are you planning on going?” She asked him opening the door.

“Maybe…” He replied.

“Okay…” Amiee replied back standing in the doorway raising her eyebrows at him as if to say “Okay you can leave now”.

“Aren’t you going to invite me in?” He said placing his arms on either side of the door. Amiee rolled her eyes and opened the door to let him in.

“Don’t make yourself too comfortable, I will be out in a moment.” Amiee said as she walked into her room. Everett was already seated in the living room chair watching highlights of the football game he had missed.

“Alright I am headed out…” Amiee said as she reappeared moments later.

“You look nice…” Everett said.

“Thanks…so either I will see you there or I won’t.” She said passing by him. But before she could make it completely past him he scooped her up in his arms –twirling her around and pressing her close to him.

“Not so fast…” He said as he pressed his lips against hers. Their lips had been separated far too long for his liking. Amiee didn’t refuse him; she kissed him back openly, desirably, and passionately before pulling herself away.

"I'm going to be late..." She said as she smoothed out her hair and motioned him to the door.

Amiee made a few stops before arriving at The Brightmore; she was late for her own party…though she didn’t understand why Mrs. Littler was throwing her one anyway.

“I’ll have a glass of your best white wine please.” Amiee said to the bartender. She paid him and tipped him well before making her way to the dance floor where it had seemed Mrs. Littler was waiting for her.

She stood there with a look of impatience on her face, and the same emotion radiating from her body language.

“Nice of you to finally grace us with your presence.” Mrs. Littler said sourly.

“Sorry I had a few stops to make.” Amiee replied, sipping her wine slowly, her eyes scanning the room. She noticed three of her painting hung off to the right of the dance floor.

“Ladies and gentlemen I would like you to meet our newest artist to be displayed  in the gallery alongside Mr. Castillo…Amiee Sullivan…you will find her work spread out throughout the club…I hope you all will enjoy.” Mrs. Littler said turning to the crowd. Amiee blushed. She wasn’t used to being the center of attention…and didn’t really much like it either…it made her…uneasy.

Amiee nodded gracefully and scanned the crowd again.

“Everett!” She shouted and flailed her arms in the air as she tried to make her way over to him. She made it nearly halfway when she got bombarded by guests.

“Your work is so raw and emotional.” One of them said.

“You are really talented…looking forward to seeing more of your work.” Another said. Finally she made her way through the crowd and over to Everett. He wasn’t alone though.

A tall blonde hair, blue-eyed beauty stepped in front of her.

“Hi…I’m Anna…you must be Amiee…your art is just breathtaking.” She said. This woman was so strikingly beautiful that Amiee couldn’t help but staring. She caught a glimpse out of the corner of her eye. There was Everett standing there with an almost nervous look on his face. Could this be his wife…girlfriend…could this be one of the very secrets that made this man so mysterious?  Amiee thought to herself.

Anna babbled on and on and soon her words were fading into the background –drowned out by the sound of the speakers that happened to be playing the very song that Amiee and Shelby always danced to in the clubs.

When Anna finally excused herself to get drinks, Amiee walked right up to Everett, with every intention of finding out just who this “Barbie doll” was.

“So…….who is Anna?” Amiee asked coolly.

“Anna…is….is complicated.” He replied, nervously running his fingers through his hair and biting on his lower lip.

“That doesn’t really give me an answer…is she your girlfriend or something?” Amiee replied.

“She’s…an ex.” He replied.

Everett babe…what did you want again.” She heard Anna call faintly from the bar. Everett sighed. Amiee’s half smile had turned into a scowl instantaneously.

“Ex huh?” Amiee said agitated.

“Let me explain…” He replied but before he could get anything else out Amiee interrupted.

“I don’t want an explanation…If you were planning on getting back together with your ‘ex’ you shouldn’t be running around chasing me in circles like you have been, I have had enough of explanations…” Amiee said as she turned away from him.

Amiee passed by the stunning blonde Barbie doll as she made her way to the exit. She couldn’t help but noticed how this woman was nearly flawless. From her waving flowing blonde locks, to her sparkling crystal blue eyes, right down to her perfectly smooth complected skin. She was no match for this girl and Barbie doll knew it. She smiled half-heartedly at Amiee as she passed by.

“Have fun with Everett.” Amiee grumbled as she walked past.

“Thanks…I will” She said in her sweet but high-pitched voice.

Amiee walked right out of the club without even saying goodbye to Mrs. Littler. She knew she was going to hear an earful at work tomorrow…but she didn’t care. She only cared about getting home, locking herself in with spoon and a pint of ben and jerrys. Her relationships were crumbling around her left and right it had seemed and Amiee just didn’t understand. What did I ever do to deserve this? She asked herself.

Oh man!!!! At a loss! I she really is a ex that doesn't get it! The way he keeps leading Amiee on isn't right if she is anything more than a ex.

I feel the need to kick tall, dark, and delicious!

Hmmm, So I wonder why Anna and Everett are 'complicated.' Hm. And did he bring her to the after party? Strange... I'm very happy for Aimee though, she deserves to enjoy her success!

Poor Amiee! She's already had so much trouble with Shelby, now Everett? I'm really waiting to see what's so complicated about Everett and this "Barbie"! Just seems like he's a two-timer to me!

~ She just might be one of those ex's...but she might not be!

~ We all know how men can be...there is something definitely more too it than meets the eye...but perhaps it isn't as bad as it seems.

* Buckey *

~ Isn't any relationship with an ex complicated? I can't answer as to whether or not she brought him to the party but you will find that out soon enough.

~ She does deserve to enjoy her success!

* Twilight *

~ Things seem to be crumbling left and right for Amiee...but at this point the only way to go now is up!

~ Seems to be some mixed views on our mystery man...we will soon see who he really is...

Thanks for reading everyone!

LOL your comments always make me laugh!

I wouldn't say he cheated on her...we don't know the whole situation between Everett and Anna and...Everett and Amiee aren't a couple.

Horsesrox76 said...

OOoooo but they had a fling so he technically did some bad tings I am still feeling the HMPH!

Unknown said...

LOL a fling isn't being committed...they are free to do as they please...yet if he is chasing her around while committed or dating someone...then yes it is bad!

LeahT said...

Well, he isn't a superhero, therefore, he is a bad guy. Hmph! I vote, GIVE HIM A CAPE! hehe... Oh and you CAN'T forget the underwear on the outside. That's a must.
