1.13 Does She or Doesn't She?

Still on his knees, Everett reached in and pulled the ring from the box and held it out for Amiee, interrupting her thoughts and her speech. Her eyes were nearly shining as much as the diamond was.

“I know it seems like it may have been too soon to ask Amiee, but I wouldn’t be asking you if I wasn’t completely sure that you are the one for me…the only one…” Everett said softly. Amiee nodded at him in silence before speaking.

“YES! YES OF COURSE I WILL MARRY YOU!” She shouted as her voice echoed through the restaurant.

Amiee held out her hand as Everett brought himself closer to her. Both his knees and his hands were shaking, not because he was nervous any longer, but because he wanted to contain his excitement long enough to place the ring on her finger without dropping it.

He gently placed her hand in his as he slipped the ring on her finger.

“I love you Amiee, more than words could ever explain to you. You have just made me the happiest man on the face of this earth!” He said as he looked up to her pushing the ring snuggly on her finger.

Amiee held her hand out and gazed at the ring that now adorned her finger. She had a smile on her face that stretched ear to ear.

“Everett it is just…beautiful!” She said.

Amiee cupped her mouth with her hand, muffling the squeals that were fighting their way out.

“Please pinch me and tell me I am not dreaming!” She said to Everett who was still on his knees cherishing the moment, this moment, that he would remember for the rest of his life.

Amiee lunged herself into his arms, throwing hers around him.

“I love you so much Everett!” She exclaimed.

“Now there is only one thing left for you to do while we are in France.” He whispered in her ear.

“What is that?” She asked.

“Find a wedding dress!” He replied. The two remained together in a loving embrace for a few moments.

“A wedding dress…now…are you saying…” Amiee began to speak.

“Yes…I want to marry you right here in France, that is if you want to...” He replied.

“Don’t you think that’s a bit soon…weddings take forever to plan…” Amiee said looking to him.

“I told you I had everything taken care of.” He replied with a  sly smile.

“You were that sure that I would say yes?” She asked him.

“Yes I was.” He replied.

“You really do know me.” She said as she softly kissed his cheek and nestled her head on his shoulder.

“So what do you say?” Everett asked her again.

“I say ‘I do’” She replied sweetly.
